Cross River State Magistrates protest 24-Months unpaid salaries

Some magistrates from the eighteen local government areas in Cross River State have staged a protest in the state capital, Calabar, to demand payment of their salaries.

The magistrates, who were seen at the second gate leading to the Office of the Governor in Calabar, Monday, January 4, 2021, claimed that they were being owed salaries for two years.

A spokesman for the group, SOLOMON ABUO, said they were left with no option than to protest to Governor BEN AYADE, after they were thrown out of their rented apartments.

Reacting to the development; the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, CHRISTIAN ITA, said the recruitment of the magistrates did not follow the due process.

CHRISTIAN ITA also advised the affected magistrates to change their approach from confrontation to appeal, with the hope that Governor BEN AYADE would listen to them.
