Some Nigerians who were brought back from Dubai have protested against being tested for Covid-19.
The Dubai returnees who are being kept in isolation at a hotel in Lekki area of Lagos State, made their position to the Commissioner for Health, Professor AKIN ABAYOMI.
They also criticized Professor ABAYOMI for informing the public that one of their members died of Covid-19 while in isolation.
The protesters complained that neglect by the government was responsible for the death of the returnee, whom they said had a surgery in Dubai and was confined in a wheelchair.
An unnamed member of the group said the condition of their dead colleague worsened after two days in the isolation camp, when he should have been taken to hospital.
Meanwhile; Professor ABAYOMI has already expressed regret about the misinterpretation of the information he shared.
He said the death of the Dubai returnee was presumed to be related to Covid-19, even when the test result was still being awaited.
The Commissioner said the Covid-19 test on the dead returnee would be made public once it is ready.
