Education Ministry investigates N2.67B school feeding funds traced to private accounts

The Minister of Education, ADAMU ADAMU, has ordered an investigation into the alleged diversion of two-point six-seven billion naira meant for the school feeding programme.

The money was meant for one hundred and four Unity Colleges across the country but was said to have been diverted into private bank accounts.

The revelation was made by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

The Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Education said the investigation is being done together with the ICPC.

The Director said that Principals of the affected schools have been queried and they claimed that the money was paid to individual officers in charge of meal subsidies.

The principals explained that the officers in charge are the ones responsible for the payment of food vendors and local farmers who do not have Tax Identification Number and other requirements to collect their payments directly.
