ENDSARS: Gov. Sanwo-Olu says Lekki Toll Gate Security Cameras are intact

The Lagos State Government will be taking stock of the destruction of public and private property across the state in the coming days.

Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU made this known in a television interview a day after hoodlums attacked, looted, and set fire to several structures and facilities in different parts of the state.

SANWO-OLU recalled that he had identified with the EndSARS protest and taken steps to respond to all the demands, adding that the violence of recent days does not represent his person.

Governor SANWO-OLU also said the presentation of the 2021 budget of the state government has been delayed due to the violent crisis.

The Lagos State Governor also promised that the 24-hour curfew in the state would be lifted once people do the right thing and normalcy begins to return.

On the shooting incident at the Lekki Phase-One Toll Gate on Tuesday night, Governor SANWO-OLU said he was informed that the security cameras were not removed. He said the footage of the incident would be used in the investigation. He said what was removed are high caliber infrared cameras designed to monitor oncoming traffic.

And for the advertising billboard at the toll plaza that was switched off on the night of the incident, the Governor said it was strictly a business decision by the owners.

Governor SANWO-OLU also said he had made attempts to reach President MUHAMMADU BUHARI on the telephone but could not speak with him directly on the incidents in Lagos.
