ENDSARS protesters shun disbandment SARS, return to streets of major cities

EndSARS protesters have returned to the streets of Lagos and other parts of the country, a day after the Inspector General of Police, MOHAMMED ADAMU, announced the dissolution of the SARS formations nationwide.

IGP ADAMU had said that the SARS operatives would be absorbed into other units of the Nigeria Police, but the EndSARS protesters do not want that.

The protesters want President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to back the dissolution of SARS with an Executive Order.

They also want all SARS operatives to undergo a psychological evaluation before they are sent to other police units.

Meanwhile; the protest on the Lekki axis has thrown the area into a massive traffic jam, which has extended well into Victoria Island.

This followed the blocking of the Lekki Phase-One Toll Plaza, which forced motorists to use alternative routes through Oniru, on Victoria Island.

On the Mushin axis of Lagos State; some residents thanked the IGP for scrapping SARS and called for the use of other police units to tackle violent crimes, such as robbery and kidnapping.

Other groups of EndSARS protesters also marched around Surulere, as well as Akoka, where the University of Lagos is located.
