FEC approves N8.49B for Covid-19 Test Kits, as caseload exceed 47,000

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria has increased by four hundred and fifty-three.

The new cases were confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control yesterday in fourteen states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

NCDC said Lagos recorded one hundred and thirteen new cases, followed by Abuja, with seventy-two.

As at Wednesday, August 12, 2020; confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria stood at forty-seven thousand, seven hundred and forty-three.

However; nearly forty thousand of such cases have been successfully managed and discharged from isolation centres.

The new coronavirus disease has also claimed the life of nine hundred and fifty-six people in the country.

Meanwhile; the Federal Executive Council has approved N8.49B for the purchase of test kits and other items needed for the Covid-19 operation.

The money was approved on the request of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, which was presented in a memo by the Minister of Health, OSAGIE EHANIRE.
