The Federal Executive Council has approved the Harmonised Retirement Age for Teachers Bill, 2021.
The Bill recommends an adjustment in the retirement age for teachers from sixty to sixty-five years.
It also seeks to change the years of service for teachers from thirty-five to forty years.
Another important element of the bill is the provision for bursary awards and special rural posting allowances to make teaching more attractive.
The Minister of Education, ADAMU ADAMU, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said the bill will be sent to the National Assembly for consideration.
