FG extends phase-2 ease of Covid-19 Lockdown

…Lifts ban on domestic travels
…Approves partial reopening of schools

The Federal Government has approved the extension of phase-two of the ease of Covid-19 lockdown for another four weeks.

The extension of the response operation comes with some adjustments in the guidelines to check the spread of the new coronavirus.

Under the new adjustments, domestic flights are allowed to resume as soon as practicable, while schools are to reopen for graduating classes.

The government has also lifted the restriction of interstate travels with effect from July 1st, and under strict compliance with Covid-19 guidelines and outside the curfew period.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, BOSS MUSTAPHA, made the announcement after a meeting with President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

Speaking further; the Coordinator of the PTF, SANI ALIYU, gave details of the new measures, including that interstate transporters would not be allowed to carry more than fifty percent capacity of their vehicles.

Meanwhile; eighteen local government areas across Nigeria are to be returned to lockdown due to high rate of Covid-19 infections.

The affected local government areas account for about sixty percent of the entire confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country.
