Gov Sanwo-Olu unveils N1.155 Trillion “Budget of Rekindled Hope”

Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, has presented a budget of one point one-five-five trillion naira for 2021.

Governor SANWO-OLU made the presentation of the “Budget of Rekindled Hope” before a special session of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

During his presentation; Governor SANWO-OLU also announced his intention to stop the payment of pensions to former governors and deputy governors of Lagos State.

To make that happen, Governor SANWO-OLU said the Public Office Holder Payment Pension Law 2007 would have to be scrapped.

In his response; the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, MUDASHIRU OBASA, is hopeful that the 2021 Budget will address the challenges facing the economy of the state.

Speaker OBASA observed that the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the EndSARS protests have been a major economic setback that require urgent attention.

In the meantime; the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, MUDASHIRU OBASA, has again condemned the role of social media in the hijack of the EndSARS protests by hoodlums.

OBASA said while he supports the freedom of expression, there was need to check the negative use of social media because of the danger to society.

The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker also observed that the activities of hoodlums during the EndSARS protests have again raised the issue of state police as a solution to security problems across the country.
