INEC meets stakeholders on date for 15 Bye-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission is undecided when to reschedule the pending bye-elections in different parts of the country.

This is because of the damage to local government offices and facilities of INEC, including in areas where the bye-elections are meant to hold.

INEC National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, FESTUS OKOYE, said the commission shall be holding consultations to decide on the date for the pending elections.

OKOYE said in a statement that the Commission would consult with political parties, civil society groups, and the media, among others, next week Tuesday and Wednesday.

He said after consultations, the national officers of INEC would meet with the Resident Electoral Commissioners on Thursday next week, when they would agree on a date for the elections.

Recall that the bye-elections fifteen bye-elections spread across eleven states were meant to hold on October 31, but were suspended following the EndSARS protests.
