“Lagos Cinemas will reopen soon”, says Gov. Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, has declared that cinemas will reopen soon.

Governor SANWO-OLU made this known during a virtual meeting with members of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria.

The Governor also pledged the commitment of his administration to work with the creative industry in Lagos State.

SANWO-OLU also promised that his government would do all that is possible to ensure that the creative sector thrives in the state.

He said the government was aware of the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on the entertainment industry, particularly the cinema sector.

On their part; representatives of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria promised to observe strictly the Covid-19 safety guidelines.

MOSES BABATOPE, who spoke on behalf of the association, said cinema owners were ready to reopen.

BABATOPE noted that cinemas outside Lagos have already reopened and are complying with all the necessary protocols.

BABATOPE and members of his association also requested the Lagos State Governor to set up a film office that would be responsible for interfacing with the film industry in the state and foreign investors.

Other participants included popular film maker, OMONI OBOLI and media mogul, MOSUNMOLA ABUDU, popularly known as MO ABUDU.
