Lagos Police denies blame in controversial death of Bariga Prince

The traditional ruler of Abule-Okuta in Bariga area of Lagos State, WASIU JINADU, is locked in a dispute with the State Police Command over the death of his son, TAIWO.

Reports say WASIU JINADU is accusing policemen at the Bariga Police Division of torturing his son to death.

Late TAIWO was reportedly arrested on Christmas Day after he allegedly had a fight with a local footballer, whose name was given as TOYIN.

The Bariga traditional ruler alleged that after the police tortured his son, he was rushed to the Somolu General Hospital, where he died.

The Lagos State Police Command has denied that late TAIWO was tortured to death by the policemen from Bariga Division.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent MUYIWA ADEJOBI, said information received at the Command indicate that late TAIWO died in hospital where he was being treated for injuries he sustained after he tried to jumped off a moving vehicle.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesman challenged the traditional ruler of Bariga to come forward with any evidence of torture of his late son, TAIWO.
