Lagos reopens Isolation Centres amid increasing new Covid-19 cases

• Begins production of Oxygen to boost treatment

The Lagos State Government is reopening some of its isolation centres following the increasing numbers of new cases of Covid-19.

The Commissioner for Health, Professor AKIN ABAYOMI, said isolation centres to be reopened are in Ajah and Ikeja, as well as the Gbagada General Hospital.

Professor ABAYOMI also said the state government has started the production of oxygen in order to help reduce the pressure of demands.

Professor ABAYOMI also revealed that aged and vulnerable people would be the first to receive the Covid-19 vaccines once Lagos State gets its supplies.

Meanwhile; Lagos State maintains the lead, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirms one thousand, four hundred and seventy-nine new cases of Covid-19 in twenty-four states and Abuja.

According to an update of the Covid-19 statistics shared on its Twitter handle last night, the NCDC said Lagos State added six hundred and ninety-seven new cases yesterday.

Abuja recorded two hundred and one new cases, followed by Nasarawa with eighty; Plateau seventy-four, and Rivers State added seventy-two.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria now stands at one hundred and five thousand, four hundred and seventy-eight.

The NCDC also said the number of Covid-19 related deaths in Nigeria has also risen to one thousand, four hundred and five.
