Lawyer complaints of tampering with exhibit at Lekki shooting scene

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutality and Shooting of EndSARS Protesters in the Lekki appears to be facing a threat, just as it begins its assignment.

This is because a member of the panel and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, EBUN-OLU ADEGBORUWA has warned that the job of the panel is being hijacked.

ADEGBORUWA’s warning followed the visit to the Lekki Toll Gate by a Federal Government delegation led by former Lagos Governor and Minister of Works and Housing, BABATUNDE FASHOLA.

He said since the Panel has been given the power to investigate the Lekki Toll Plaza shooting, it is illegal for anyone else to conduct any visit to the location without the authority and consent of the Panel.

The Human Rights Lawyer quoted reports in which FASHOLA was said to have discovered a hidden camera, which he described as a clear case of illegally tampering with exhibits that may become useful to the Panel.

ADEGBORUWA, therefore, appealed to Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU to allow the Panel the full independence as was promised at the time of inauguration.

He said the Panel will not shy away from summoning anyone who is alleged to be involved in any act that may obstruct the course of justice.
