National Assembly increases 2021 Budget by N500b

• Senate approves NDDC’s 2020 Budget

The two chambers of the National Assembly have passed the 2021 Budget of the Federal Government, after ten weeks and four days.

The ‘Budget of Economic Recovery and Resilience’ passed by the Senate, is thirteen point five-eight-eight trillion naira.

The amount is over five hundred and five billion naira more than the figure President MUHAMMADU BUHARI sent to the National Assembly.

The House of Representatives also passed the 2021 Budget with an increase of over five hundred billion naira.

Meanwhile; the Nigerian Senate has also passed the 2020 Budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission, ten days to the end of the year.

The Budget provides the sum of four hundred and fifty-three point two billion naira for the NDDC, with personnel cost put at twenty-seven point four billion naira.

A total sum of four hundred and nine billion naira is expected to cover NDDC’s development projects for the period ending March 31, 2021.

The NDDC’s Budget was passed following the presentation and consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on NDDC.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee, Senator PETER NWAOBOSHI, said the developmental aspect of the budget is a continuation of the 2019 Budget.
