Nigeria’s President, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, has welcomed the inauguration of JOE BIDEN as the Forty-Sixth President of the United States.

President BUHARI says he is looking forward to working with President BIDEN and Vice President KAMALA HARRIS.

In a statement signed by his spokesman, GARBA SHEHU, President BUHARI expressed the hope that the new US Presidency will mark a strong point of cooperation and support for Nigeria and the African continent.

Meanwhile; the new President of the United States, JOE BIDEN, has declared that there is no time to waste in tackling the crises facing America.

President BIDEN made the declaration in a message on Twitter soon after his inauguration and after signing fifteen executive orders.

These include measures to boost the response of the US Federal Government to the coronavirus crisis.

President BIDEN also reversed the withdrawal of the Trump administration from climate change and immigration commitments.

In his inaugural address, President BIDEN described his inauguration as a historic day, and promised to be the president of all Americans.

President BIDEN promised to pursue justice for all, as well as an end to extremism, white supremacy and domestic terrorism.

In a related development; the Chinese government has slammed sanctions against twenty-eight high-ranking officials of the Trump Administration in the United States.

Those that have been placed under the hammer of the Chinese government include former secretary of state MIKE POMPEO.

The authorities in Beijing accused POMPEO and the twenty-seven others of prejudice and hatred against China.

In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said the former Trump administration officials had undermined the relationship between the US and China.
