NGF faults SWAT, Northern Governors want SARS restored

Governors of the nineteen northern states have rejected the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.

Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, SIMON LALONG, said they have made their position known to President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

Governor LALONG briefed State House correspondent about their position after a meeting with President BUHARI at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The position of the Northern Governors appears to agree with decisions reached during the enlarged meeting of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

According to a statement released by the Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, KAYODE FAYEMI, the Forum faulted the timing of the creation of the new SWAT team by the Inspector General of Police
