Nigerian youth complain of neglect

Some Nigerian youths have called on the Federal Government to create more employment for them.

The young people made the call in an interview with Lasgidi FM’s CHUKWUEMEKA OBIOMA on the occasion of this year’s International Youth Day.

They said most Nigerian youths who are unemployed should be engaged in order to help them to stay away from negative activities.

Others also argued that government at all levels had failed to come with policies for youth development in Nigeria.

One woman said: “Government should just create employment and programmes for the youth and not allow them come out of school and become nuisance to the society.

Another male respondent said: “Those in government are working for their pockets, they are not working for the growth of the youth, they are not working for the growth of the country, they are not working for the growth of the states, they are not working for the growth of the people, they are not working for development. they are not working for anything except their pockets.”
And for yet another respondent, a man, he said: ”For me , anything pertaining to our government and the youth, I don’t have anything to contribute because we don’t have government. Look at what is happening in Edo State.”

This year’s International Youth Day is the 21st edition, and the theme for the celebration is: “Youth Engagement for Global Action.”
