NPFL suffers setback

The resumption for the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has been postponed to Sunday 9th of May, 2021 according to the League Management Company COO Salihu Abubakar

Mr Salihu Abubakar said this in a statement “Following the conclusion of the first round of matches on April 5, and subsequent mid-season break, be informed that the second round matches will commence with match-day 20 on May 9 in all centres, with the exception of Enyimba versus Rangers, which will be announced in due course,”

He also confirmed that upon resumption of footballing action in the league, fans won’t be allowed inside the various stadiums “This is for your information and compliance as we continue to maintain all COVID-19 protocols.” He said

Kwara United are on top of the league after the first stanza having played 19 matches gathering 36 points same has second place Kano Pillars but with a better goal difference of +13 to Pillars +7. Akwa United and Enugu Rangers complete the top 4 with 34 points and 30 points respectively (Rangers have played a game less than the Top 3 teams)

Adamawa United has it all to do when the league resumes as they sit bottom of the log with 12 points from 19 games. Warri Wolves (17th), Katsina United (18th) and FC Ifeanyi Ubah (19th) completes the bottom 4 of the league.
