One of Nigeria’s medal hopeful for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Odunayo Adekuoroye has expressed confidence in living up to the hype when the games commence later this year.
The 27-year-old wrestler who is currently preparing for a competition in Poland ahead of the Olympics said she’s working on her weak areas and improving on her strengths as the quadrennial draws closer.
“I’m preparing well, focused, and ready to do the needful that will place me on the podium at the Olympics,” the African champion who’s one of the beneficiaries of the Sports Ministry’s Adopt-An-Athlete said in an interview with The Punch.
“I’m ready and working hard on the weak areas, while also strengthening the strong ones.
“Very soon I will be competing in Poland, which will count on my ranking at the Olympics. There is also the Spanish Grand Prix and other competitions.
“Right now I am doing my build-up and strength training. By the grace of God, I’m 100 percent sure that I will be on the podium.”
The Olympics will hold from July 23 to August 8, 2021, although it was originally scheduled for July 24 to August 9, 2020, but was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
