At least one person has died in an accident involving a moving train and two vehicles around Oshodi area of the Lagos metropolis.
The accident happened during the rush-hours of Monday, September 14, 2020, as the vehicles were trying to cross the rail track at the Arena Shopping Complex in Oshodi.
Eyewitnesses said the train dragged one of the vehicles – a Volkswagen T-4 bus – all the way to Oshodi Under-Bridge area.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, FEMI OKE-OSAYINTOLU, said several injured were later rushed to hospital for treatment, where one of them was confirmed dead.
The LASEMA General Manager also said investigations show that the drivers of the crushed vehicles were at fault.
Also; the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, said interference by onlookers who rushed to the scene of the accident made the rescue operation difficult.
