‘Operation Fireball’ troops kill 5 terrorists, capture weapons

Nigerian soldiers have continued to make gains in the fight against terrorist groups in the Northeast of the country, as troops of Operation FIRE BALL engaged some armed men at Buni Gari, in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Acting Director of Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General BENARD ONYEUKO, said the incident happened over weekend, with five terrorists killed.

Brigadier General ONYEUKO said the soldiers also captured one Armoured Personnel Carrier, one Gun Truck, two Anti-Aircraft Guns, one Rocket Propelled Grenade Tube, one PKT Gun, and a General Purpose Machine Gun.

Other captured items include six AK-47 rifles, and three hundred and eleven rounds of NATO ammunition.

Elsewhere; in in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State; troops of 151 Task Force Battalion destroyed the hideout of terrorists at Miyanti area and rescued a woman and three children.

Earlier; on November 3, troops of the Army Super Camp Seven in Bama stopped a planned suicide attack on their camp by a female suicide bomber.
