Oshodi-Isolo II Lawmaker shed light on Lagos Anti-Cultism Law Amendment Bill

The Anti-Cultism Law amendment bill before the Lagos State House of Assembly may face some difficulties following the rejection of some of the provisions.

The executive legislation provides that parents of children who are found to be involved in cultism would also face punishment.

A legal practitioner, CHIZELU EMEJULU, has threatened to go to court to challenge the bill, which he said would be difficult to enforce.

However; the member representing Oshodi-Isolo Two State Constituency, EMEKA IDUMGU, said it was too early for people to be worried about the new Anti-Cultism bill.

EMEKA IDUMGU also assured that at the appropriate time, members of the public would be given the opportunity to contribute to the Anti-Cultism Law amendment process.

Meanwhile; the Bill has already been committed to the House Committee on Judiciary to work on it and report back to the House in three weeks.
