PDP kicks against returning Officer, as INEC charges Staff on Ondo Guber Poll

The People’s Democratic Party has rejected the appointment of Professor EYITOPE OGUNGBENRO OGUNBODEDE as Chief Returning Officer for the Ondo governorship election.

Professor OGUNBODEDE is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ife, and the PDP alleged that he is a friend of the All Progressives Congress and hails from the same town as Governor ROTIMI AKEREDOLU.

The position of the PDP was made in a statement by Oyo State Governor, SEYI MAKINDE, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governorship National Campaign Council for Ondo State.

Meanwhile; the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor MAHMOOD YAKUBU, has charged members of staff to avoid any action that can threaten the success of the election.

Professor YAKUBU gave the charge in a statement in which he recalled the success of the recent election in Edo State, which he said was made possible through the combined efforts of INEC staff, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders.

YAKUBU said INEC remains committed to ensure a free and fair election in Ondo State, and staff must resist any form of temptation to do the wrong things.
