Petrol, Electricity price hikes protests hit Ibadan, Oshogbo

The increase in the pump price of petrol and cost of electricity has sparked protests in different parts of Nigeria, particularly in the South-West.

Reports from Ibadan, Oyo State and Oshogbo, Osun State, say angry workers and students marched on the streets to register their anger against the Federal Government.

A group of protesters, who claimed to be members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, were seen around Awolowo Junction in Ibadan.

The protesters were led by the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of the NANS, MAYOWA OPAKUNLE, who declared that the student population totally reject the action of government.

He complained that Nigerians were currently battling with the problems of job losses, pay cuts, as well as high cost of goods and services.

In Osogbo, Osun State, the protesters, who were mainly students, wore orange berets, engraved with the symbols of the #Revolution-Now Movement.

The protesters marched from Freedom Park, Osogbo, through MDS road, to Olaiya Junction, chanting anti-government songs.
