Police claims jealousy triggered murder of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa

Police in Edo State have charged six suspects to court over the murder of a female undergraduate of the University of Benin, VERA UWAILA OMUZUWA, in May this year.

The suspects include two women – one of whom is alleged to have paid the boys who carried out the attack, while the second woman is said to be the mother of another suspect who is on the run.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, CHIDI NWABUZOR, said all six suspects, as well as others who are yet to be arrested, played different roles in relation to the crime.

NWABUZOR, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said investigations revealed that VERA UWAILA OMOZUWA was killed as a result of jealousy by one of her church members.

The Edo State Police Command spokesman also explained that one of the women in custody was arrested for allegedly trying to cover up for her son.
