Pres. Buhari joins FEC Meeting from Daura; orders reopening of land borders

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI interrupted his holiday at his home town in Daura, Katsina State, to join the meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

President BUHARI joined the FEC meeting through a video link from Daura to the Executive Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.

However; the main FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa was presided over by the Vice President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO.

Those in attendance include the National Security Adviser, retired Major General BABAGANA MONGUNO, and the Minister of Health, Dr OSAGIE EHANIRE.

However; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, BOSS MUSTAPHA, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ecological Funds Office, HABIBA LAWAL.

Meanwhile; President BUHARI has ordered the immediate reopening of four land borders, including the Seme border in Badagry.

Also to be reopened immediately the Mfum border between Nigeria and Cameroon, through Ikom-Etung axis in Cross River State; as well as Maigatari and Illela land borders in the Northwestern part of the country.

President BUHARI further directed all of Nigeria’s land borders should be reopened on the last day of this year, December 31.

Recall that President BUHARI had in August 2019, ordered the partial closure of all Nigeria’s land borders.

In October of the same year, the President also stopped all trading activities through the land borders.
