Presdient Buhari shuns Senate; appoints keyamo’s nominee for NDE

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has approved the appointment of ABUBAKAR FIKPO as Acting Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, confirmed FIKPO’s appointment, as nominated by the Minister of State for Labour, FESTUS KEYAMO.

SHEHU noted that FIKPO would the acting appointment until the appointment of a substantive Director-General for the NDE.

In approving the appointment, President BUHARI ignored the position of the Senate on December 10 last year, calling for the sacked NDE boss, NASIRU ARGUNGU, to be restored.

Before his removal; ARGUNGU had been in disagreement with FESTUS KEYAMO over the handling of the recruitment of seven hundred and seventy-four thousand Nigerians for three months at the cost of over fifty-four billion naira.
