Presidency explains late cancellation of meeting with South-South leaders

The Presidency has expressed regret over the postponement of a scheduled meeting with leaders of the South-South Geopolitical Zone in Port Harcourt.

However, the Presidency failed to actually apologise for the last minute cancellation of the meeting, as demanded by the South-South leaders.

In a statement; the Senor Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, said that the absence of the federal government delegation at the planned meeting was not out of disrespect.

SHEHU said that the information and regret for the inconvenience caused by the suspension of the travel plan were conveyed to the hosts of the meeting through the right channels.

He also said that a new date for the meeting with the South-South would be agreed after due consultations with the parties concerned.
