Protesters block East-West Road over NDDC Sole Administrator

Some protesters earlier today blocked Mbiama-Yenagoa junction on the East-West Road in protest over the appointment of a Sole Administrator for the NDDC.

The protesters stopped the movement of vehicles on the federal highway, which runs from Akwa Ibom though Rivers, Bayelsa, and down to Delta state.

In a separate interview with Lasgidi FM News Desk, a Niger Delta youth activist, PAT OBIENE, said people of the region have every reason to protest against the failure to appointment permanent officers to oversee the NDDC.

PAT OBIENE also said if the Federal Government had set up the Board of Directors for the NDDC, it would not have had to engage in the ongoing forensic investigation for the agency.

In the meantime; former deputy spokesman of the ruling APC, TIMI FRANK, has given the Federal Government fourteen days to reverse the appointment of the NDDC’s Sole Administrator.

TIMI FRANK said in a statement that he would go to court to challenge the government’s action if he does not get his demand.

FRANK said it was an insult to the entire Niger Delta region for the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator GODSWILL AKPABIO, to allegedly put his cousin in charge of the NDDC.
