The Federal Government says that Nigeria will be among the first countries to benefit from cheaper and reliable Covid-19 testing kits that are being produced through the help of the World Health Organisation.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, BOSS MUSTAPHA, made this known during a media briefing in Abuja.
BOSS MUSTAPHA called Nigerians to remain vigilant to avoid catching the new coronavirus, as the country celebrates the sixtieth independence anniversary.
Similarly; the Minister of State for Health, OLORUNIMBE MAMORA has said that a molecular test kit developed by the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research will soon be available for Nigerians to use for Covid-19 testing.
Meanwhile; Nigeria has added one hundred and eighty-seven new cases of Covid-19, as of Tuesday, September 30, 2020.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control says the new infections were recorded in twelve states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Lagos added seventy-four new cases, to top the list for yesterday, followed by Rivers State with twenty-five, while Abuja added nineteen.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria has also climbed to fifty-eight thousand, six hundred, and forty-seven.
Nearly fifty thousand of the total figure have been successfully treated in Nigeria, while the number of deaths remains one thousand, one hundred and eleven.
