RAPE: Hor. Member apologised over over unsympathetic comments

Two members of the House of Representatives have apologized for their wrong choice of words to address the issue of rape.

HENRY ACHIBONG from Akwa Ibom State apologized to women for the words he used during plenary on Thursday 4th, 2020.

On his part; AHMED JAHA from Borno State apologize to women and other Nigerians for saying that women should dress decently to prevent rape.

In his ruling; the Speaker, FEMI GBAJABIAMILA, said the House, as an institution was sensitive and committed to gender issues.

Meanwhile; the Speaker has directed members to do short videos denouncing rape of women, which they are to send to the people they represent.

The House of Representatives also has on display within its legislative chamber a giant size banner inscribed with “Reps Say No to Rape.”
