Recreation/Event Centres in Lagos risk N1m Covid-19 fine

The Lagos State Government has released guidelines for the reopening of event and recreation centres, including a fine of one million naira against violators.

The requirements for the reopening of such venues after the Covid-19 lockdown include operating at fifty percent capacity, two metres spacing and a Covid-19 register for all customers above eighteen years.

Such facilities, including cinemas operating within Lagos State, are also not expected operate within the time of the existing curfew, between 10PM and 4AM.

Similarly; owners of restaurants and eateries are mandated to indicate two metres spacing on the floor on the floor of their outlets to guide their customers on physical distancing.

However; fast food outlets and eateries are not expected to open for in-house dinners but are to maintain take-away services for now.

These measures were announced by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, UZAMAT AKINBILE-YUSUF.

In addition to the Covid-19 guidelines, the Commissioner said any event should not last more than three hours.

She said event centres and entertainment places must also obtain valid licence from the Lagos State Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism, as well as a safety clearance.
