Schools brace up against Covid-19, as new session begins

Today is the first day of schools reopening in the New Year, but not all the schools in Lagos State have resumed.

Government and some private schools reopened today, while some missionary schools have had their resumption extended.

Lasgidi FM’s NAJITE ATIRENE made the observation while monitoring some schools around Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Obalende areas of Lagos.

At some of the schools that resumed today, it was observed that facilities were put in place to ensure that staff and students comply with Covid-19 guidelines.

At the Kuramo Schools, running tap water was provided at the entry point for handwashing, while students were seen on their nose masks.

The Principal of the Junior Secondary section of the Kuramo Schools said that the students are closely monitored.

However; the situation at the Kings College on Lagos Island appeared rowdy, with crowd of people at the gate during the morning hours.

Some parents and guardians who arrived at the school to drop off their children and wards were not allowed into the premises due to Covid-19 protocol put in place by the management.

Meanwhile; Saint Gregory College and Holy Child Secondary Schools, both at the Obalende, will not reopen for academic activities until Monday next week.
