Nigerian soldiers have killed two hundred and twenty armed bandits in the Northwestern part of the country between July and December last year.
Three hundred and thirty-five suspected bandits were arrested, together with three hundred and twenty-six illegal miners, one hundred and forty-seven informants, as well as sixty arms and logistics suppliers.
Within the same period, soldiers of Operation SAHEL SANITY also captured two hundred and sixty-seven firearms, including a General Purpose Machine Gun.
The Acting Director of Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General BENARD ONYEUKO, said troops also captured five thousand, seven hundred and fifty-nine ammunition from the bandits.
Brigadier General ONYEUKO said the killings, arrests and captures were made during raids on one hundred and ninety-seven camps of bandits.
The raided locations include a place known as Dangote Triangle, which is dominated by notorious bandits.
The Defence spokesman made the announcement during a media briefing at the Information Center of the Nigerian Army Special Super Camp in Faskari, Katsina State.
