WHO warns; as Aviation Minister defends, FG releases guidelines for Schools

The Federal Government has defended the close sitting arrangement allowed for passengers traveling by air.

The Minister of Aviation, HADI SIRIKA, said scientific facts show that the compressed air inside an aircraft cabin reduces the chances of spreading Covid-19.

HADI SIRIKA offered the explanation during the media briefing by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.

The Aviation Minister also said preparations are being made for the resumption of international flight, but added that safety remains a top consideration of government.

Meanwhile; whenever schools are allowed to reopen, pupils and students will not be allowed to stay less than two metres from one another.

This is part of a long list of guidelines approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, which is contained in a fifty-two-page document.

The Minister of State for Education, EMEKA NWAJIUBA, said the guidelines outlined actions, measures and requirements that are needed for the safe reopening of schools after the Covid-19 lockdown.

In the meantime; the World Health Organisation has observed that many countries are heading in the wrong direction by easing lockdowns.

WHO also warned that the coronavirus pandemic was going to get worse if certain governments do not take decisive action to curb the spread of the disease.

The head of the global health agency, TEDROS ADHANOM GHEBREYESUS said there have been dangerous increases in cases in countries where proven measures to reduce risk are not implemented or followed.
