Anambra Govt threatens criminal charges against ‘Onyeze Jesus’

The Anambra State Government is investigating allegations against a man who claims to make people rich by bathing them naked in a river and spraying currency notes on them.

The State Government said it has received some videos produced by the man who calls himself ONYEZE JESUS, and operates from Nkpor, in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, DON ADINUBA, alleged in a statement that former disciples of ONYEZE JESUS accused him of swindling them of their hard earned resources.

ADINUBA said ONYEZE JESUS promotes superstition and hatred by telling his brainwashed followers that their misfortune is caused by family members, relatives, friends and business associates through magical powers.

By throwing plenty naira notes into the river as part of sacrifice to the river goddess and filming for the whole world to see, the government official said ONYEZE JESUS has brought Anambra State into global ridicule.

The Commissioner further claimed that ONYEZE JESUS committed a criminal offence under the Central Bank of Nigeria Act of 2007, which is punishable by imprisonment.

Additionally, the state government accused the man of denying his followers the right to personal dignity and promoting indecent exposure by filming his followers bathing naked in a river and distributing the videos across the globe.
