Army suspends Conference, as Six Division GOC dies of Covid-19

• NCDC Confirms 675 new Covid-19 cases

The General Officer Commanding Six Division of the Nigerian Army in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Major-General JOHN OLU IREFIN, has died of Covid-19.

Major-General IREFIN, who also the Land Component Commander of Operation Delta Safe, reportedly died while attending the Chief of Army Staff Conference in Abuja.

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel SAGIR MUSA, confirmed in a statement that the death of Major-General IREFIN led to the cancellation of the conference.

Meanwhile; the number of Covid-19 deaths in Nigeria now stands at one thousand, one hundred and ninety.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has also confirmed six hundred and seventy-five new cases of Covid-19 in fifteen states and Abuja over the last twenty-four hours.

The NCDC said one hundred and eighty-three new cases were recorded in Abuja, while Lagos State added one hundred and twenty-eight.

Other states where new cases were recorded are Kaduna, Kwara, Katsina, Plateau, Rivers, Kano, Ondo, Ogun, Bauchi, Sokoto, Edo, Ekiti, Bayelsa, and Delta.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria so far is seventy-one thousand, three hundred and forty-four.
