ASUU extends warning strike by 8 weeks

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has extended its warning strike by eight weeks, as the original four-week protest ended yesterday.

ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, announced the extension of the strike in a statement after a meeting of the National Executive Council of the union on Sunday.

Professor Osodoke said the university lecturers expect the Federal Government to use the additional period as an opportunity to address all issues behind the strike.

The issues include full implementation of the 2009 Agreement on universities revitalization and the 2020 Memorandum of Action reached with the government.
