Gunmen have killed a Divisional Police Officer, Umar Dakin, in an attack at Nasko village in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
Witnesses in the community told reporters that six other persons were also killed along with the DPO in the attack by bandits.
Reports say the bandits in their hundreds, who rode on motorcycles, first picked out the DPO when they arrived in the community.
In another development, bandits have killed several people in an attack on inhabitants of Ngaski town and Gafara community in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Tanko-Sununu, who represents Yawuri, Shanga, Ngaski, confirmed the attacks to newsmen.
Representative Tanko-Sununu said the bandits had sent a letter warning the inhabitants of their plan to attack them.
He said the criminal had intended to take over a tomato processing factory at Gafara community but they were overpowered by the security operatives in the area.
