Blackout worsens as national grid suffers second collapse within 48 hours

Following Monday’s national grid collapse resulting in a blackout across the country, another collapse incident has occurred.

The recent collapse was disclosed by the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, Eko Electricity Distribution Company and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company on Tuesday evening.

Ikeja Disco disclosed that the collapse affected transmission stations and it was already working with regulators to bring the grid back online.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company also confirmed the partial collapse of the grid in a public notice.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC also informed its customers in the south-eastern part of the country of another system collapse.

The grid collapse further prolonged the blackouts witnessed across the country, amidst the current energy crisis in the petroleum sector in Nigeria.
