President Muhammadu Buhari has finally signed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.
The President assented to the bill today at a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
President Buhari in his address said in line with established tradition, he received inputs from relevant ministries, departments and agencies of government after careful and thorough reviews of the Bill and its implications to democratic processes in Nigeria.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, were present to witness the signing of the Bill.
The signing of the bill comes barely a week to the expiration of the window the President has to take a decision on the proposed legislation as required by the constitution.
