Chad’s opposition rejects son of late president Idriss Deby as Head of State

opposition politicians in Chad have rejected the interim military government headed by the son of late President Idriss Déby.

Thirty-seven-years-old General Mahamat Idriss Déby, also known as Mahamat Kaka, was named as Head of State, following the death of his father in the battlefield against rebel forces in the north of the country.

However; Chad’s opposition, which is behind a rebel onslaught in the northern part of the country, has rejected the interim government led by General Kaka, saying that the country was not a monarchy.
