Detained Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has revealed that he is suffering from diabetes and hypertension, and his health is said to be failing.
DCP Kyari made this known in a case filed by his lawyer at the Federal High Court in Abuja, in which he is challenging his detention by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
The former head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, who is accused of drug trafficking, claims that he was being held over false allegations.
However; Justice Inyang Ekwo refused to grant DCP Kyari’s request to be released on bail on health grounds.
Instead, Justice Ekwo ordered that the Federal Government should be put on notice of the suit, in order to respond to some of Kyari’s claims.
Following the ruling, Justice Ekwo adjourned the case to February 24, which in on Thursday this week, for hearing.
