A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for the arrest of a former Minister of Aviation, FEMI FANI-KAYODE.
EFCC counsel, MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR, had asked the court to issue an arrest warrant against the former minister after he failed to appear in court.
FANI-KAYODE is facing trial over the alleged diversion of twenty-six million naira he allegedly received from former National Security Adviser, SAMBO DASUKI, in 2014.
The defence lawyer, WALE BALOGUN, opposed the application and presented a medical report to show that his client was advised by his doctor to take bed rest.
In his ruling; Justice JOHN TSOHO dismissed the EFCC’s application on the strength of the medical report presented by FANI-KAYODE’s lawyer.
