Court remands BRT driver for 30 days over Bamise murder

The Yaba Magistrate Court has remanded for thirty days a BRT driver, Andrew Nice Omininikoron suspected of involvement in the death of his passenger, Oluwabamise Ayanwole.

The prosecuting officer, SP Cardoso Yetunde prayed the court to remand the suspect in the prison until investigations are concluded.

Magistrate Omobola Salawu ordered that Andrew Nice be remanded in Ikoyi prison as they await a legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutors.

Andrew Nice was charged with four court charge of murder, misconduct, sexual assault and improper interference with the corpse of late Oluwabamise Ayanwola.

Magistrate Salawu who stood in for the Chief Magistrate Tunbosun Adedayo, adjourned the case to April 11, 2022 for hearing.

Meanwhile, late Oluwabamise family lawyer Ayo Ademiluyi, has called on the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba to take over the case.

Ademiluyi who spoke to newsmen outside the court, also demanded that the BRT bus where the crime was allegedly committed be taken to the police for forensic analysis.

Ademiluyi also expressed displeasure that the Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu who assured the Oluwabamise’s family of a condolence visit yesterday later cancelled the trip.
