EFCC raids Festac Town; arrest 5 suspects for Credit Card Fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have continued to record breakthrough in the raids on suspected internet fraudsters.

The latest raid by EFCC operatives was carried out around Seventh Avenue in Festac Town, Lagos, with five suspects arrested over alleged credit card fraud.

The suspects were identified as DANIEL C. STEPHEN, NESTOR EZEANI, SONNY OKWARAJI, SYLVESTER E OTUWA and JEFF OGBONAYA.

They are alleged to have taken part in the theft of two hundred and fifty-seven thousand, eight hundred and twenty-two US dollars from a new generation bank.

EFCC spokesman confirmed in a statement that the alleged fraudulent transaction was reported to the agency by the Bank through a petition.

The statement noted that the bank complained that it received a mail from VISA International on suspicious sixty credit card transactions.

It further revealed that the suspects were arrested with several credit cards, which they allegedly use to upload money before transferring them to other banks.

The anti-graft agency said some of the suspects have made useful statements, adding that they would be charged to court after investigations.
