President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the National Assembly to remove Section-84, subsection 12 of the Electoral Act he signed on Friday last week.
The section of the law provides that no political appointee shall take part in voting or be voted for at the congress or convention of any political party for the purpose of nominating candidates for elections.
President Buhari made the request in two separate letters to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawal, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
