Emergency responders tackle fire and road accidents in Lagos

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency today, August 13, 2020, responded to two accident scenes within the metropolis.

One was a fire outbreak around Ogba axis, which affected a factory, while the second incident involved a diesel tanker that suffered break failure in Apapa.

LASEMA General Manager, FEMI OKE-OSAYINTOLU said the Ogba fire incident happened in the early hours of today and has since been put off.

However; the LASEMA Boss that the building involved would have to undergo integrity testing to determine whether it should be allowed to stand.

On the Apapa diesel tanker accident; the LASEMA General Manager said investigation is still being conducted to determine the cause.

Elsewhere on the outskirts of Lagos; emergency responders also cleared an accident scene on the Long Bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident, which happened on the lane leading out of Lagos, involved a tipper that was conveying sand and a truck loaded with liquefied gas.

Head of Operations of Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corp, MATTHEW ZANGOR, who was at the scene of the accident, told Lasgidi FM News Desk on telephone that there was no casualty.
