#ENDSARS: Mixed reactions trail ban on patrols, checkpoints

More reactions are trailing complaints against the Police Federal Anti-Robbery Squad and the intervention by the Police High Command.

PDP’s 2019 Presidential Running-mate, PETER OBI, has called for caution in the clampdown on the police special tactical units.

PETER OBI said the ban on F-SARS patrols, roadblocks and stop-and-search are good, but Nigerians need to be assured that it will not end by mere pronouncement like was done previously.

However; LAURETTA ONOCHIE, who is one of President MUHAMMADU BUHARI’s personal assistants, said the latest campaign to end F-SARS brutality is a coordinated attack by cybercriminals.

On his part; Revolution-Now convener, OMOYELE SOWORE, challenged Nigerian students, who he described as worst victims of F-SARS, to support the campaign to check their violation of the law and the rights of citizens.

Meanwhile; some residents of Lagos State have also reacted differently to the ban on the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, from routine patrol and other activities that put them in direct contact with law-abiding citizens.

Some of those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s CHUKWUEMEKA OBIOMA praised the Inspector General of Police for the F-SARS patrol ban.

However, another group of Lagos residents argued that the ban on F-SARS patrol and checkpoints would not produce good results.
